Holy Week and Easter

I saw a cartoon this week of the resurrected Jesus leaving the tomb and the Roman guard telling Him to get back inside, ‘we are in lock down!’

Very funny but untrue, we are still going to celebrate Holy Week and Easter, it might be different, but we are going to mark our oldest and most important festival of the year.
There is no way to stop the risen Jesus leaving the tomb!

One of the important things to do during this difficult period is to find a rhythm of our days. I want to encourage you to include a time of prayer and Bible reading in that rhythm. Particularly this week. The internet can be a great help to us. I have listed some of the resources available to us.

I have also listed some songs that you can listen to and watch on YouTube, all for free.

On Friday I will post a video (on our Facebook page and YouTube) of ‘The Way of the Cross.’ As we mark that most solemn of days. On Sunday I will upload a video of an Easter Sunday reflection and some intercessions for you to use.

If you’d like to explore how to pray when you are on your own, perhaps you would consider joining our Wednesday Zoom prayer group, ‘Going Deeper with God.’ All you need to do is email me (rex@gg-pc.co.uk) and I’ll email you a Zoom invitation.

I realise that for many this is a very difficult time, if you would find it helpful to have someone pray with you over the phone, please email me and I have a small team waiting to pray with you.

Our church building may well be locked and unavailable for us, but we are still church and we are still worshipping.

May God bless you this Holy Week and Easter

Love

Rex

We at Golders Green Church will continue to offer a number of ways we can and will keep in contact though emailing and phoning each other, the use of Facebook and the website, sending out updates by supporting those who need shopping, prescriptions fetched, letters posted and anything else you may need if you are isolated at home, whether you are in the over 70-year-old age group, or, have underlying health conditions.

The important thing is, PLEASE LET US KNOW. We are drawing up a list of volunteers we can call on to help.  If anyone wants to add their names to this, please email Rex rex@gg-pc.co.uk

What Pam thinks of the lock down

Self Isolation has been a blessing to be able to spend quality time as a family and watch Phoenix’s speech develop in what is a short space of time. Working full time from home with two under five has been a challenge but I am thankful to be working.

Self-Isolation tip: limit news and media consumption. I’ve found children’s TV to be a welcome and strangely soothing reprieve!
