As the result of the Coronavirus
Dear Friends
Having received guidance and direction from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and the London College of Bishops, Golders Green Parish Church will be closed for public worship until further notice. This does not however mean we are “shutting up shop” as the bishops have said - far from it - it means we will be doing Church differently and with you all in new ways. of communicating and worshipping together in our Faith, in our care and concern for each other and showing it with our community in many different ways.
What does this mean for us? We will:
• offer lots of smaller opportunities for prayer through our facebook page, our website and when we can open the church - as long as we can get volunteers who are not self-isolating to be there to welcome people in to pray;
• do this especially on a Sunday, so that people can gather in small groups to pray (say, fewer than ten people) well spread out round the church;
• set up a “WhatsApp” group for those of you who wish to join in so that we can communicate, share news, prayers and feeling, make requests;
• be compiling lists of those of you who would like to volunteer to contact others who are isolated in their homes by phone, Email or facebook and would like to have phone calls. Please contact Sally on 07759 343335 to give your name, phone numbers and/or email addresses;
• have a list of those of us who are in the vulnerable groups identified, such as those over 70 and/or have an underlying illness, so that they are able to have regular contact and their needs met regarding shopping, collecting prescriptions;
• encourage all of us who have computers mobiles and ipads to log onto prayers from the Church of England
• join in with the National Day of Prayer on 22nd March and urge everyone to do so;
• constantly update you all with thoughts, prayers and different ways of worshipping when we develop them through our website and facebook and keep in touch;
We also hope that you will keep in touch with us and each other too as we value you and have care and concern for you
